Fondazione SYLVA is a non-profit organization dedicated to environmental regeneration through reforestation.
Established in 2021 in response to the catastrophic decimation of
centuries-old olive trees caused by the spread of the bacterium Xylella
fastidiosa in Puglia. In just 15 years, the bacterium led to the death of nearly 30
million olive trees in Salento alone- representing 40% of Puglia's treestriggering
a desertification process across more than 750,000 hectares of
agricultural land. The resulting socio-economic, cultural, and environmental
consequences have been extremely severe. Fondazione Sylva aims to actively
contribute to the rebirth of this territory. At the same time, we are committed
to mitigating the effects of climate change by planting trees not only in
Puglia but also in other regions of Italy.
